How do I drain / flush the water on my 96 Intruder ? (150hp)

Hello all. I just took the hose from the water pressure gauge off, and blew some air through it, and it had a bunch of nasty grime and crap all clogged up. Im sure that is why my gauge was reading so poor, plus a small part of the rubber gasket around the brass fitting was in the way.

Question : if there was this much crap in the little hose, there has to be some more in the cylinder somewhere right ? How do I flush them ? Remove the thermostats and stick a hose in it ? Do I have to take the lower unit off ?

Unscrew your discharge fitting and screw the hose in there. You can unscrew the T'stat covers and pull them to let stuff flow out. Ever hear of algae?

Under the rear latch. It is the tell tale/pee hole/overboard discharge . Use a spark plug wrench to unscrew it.

Ahh !! Thank you !! Makes sense.

Do I need to put any plastic down over the motor to keep water from getting all over the place, or will it shoot out strong enough to clear it all ??? And should I do one side at a time maybe??
