Getting 2d while on pad??

I have a 12" at the console and the transducer is mounted under my jack plate. Originally I did not need 2d while on pad because I had a different unit doing that so I did not set up my Garmin for 2d on pad.

What do I need to order to accomplish this? Is there a certain shoot thru hull transducer and Y cable? Thanks!!

Sounds like the Y cable question that is showing up in multiple threads. Y cable to split out 2d only works with GT30.

Soooo, someone spends that type of money for one of their high end 12" units and there is NO way to get 2d while on pad with my GT52?

If thats correct, am I the only one who thinks thats crazy??

I don't think you have any Y-cable alternatives using the GT52 but on your 7612 you have 2 transducer ports. The GT52 is plugged into the 12 pin. You have a some choices for what you plug into the 8 pin port for in-hull mounting. GT15M-IH and GT8HW-IH. I think Todd would recommend the GT15 since it is 600 watts and the frequency band wouldn't interfere with the GT52. I have one and it works great. I've not tried the GT8HW-IH, but I'm pretty sure it's 250 watts.

I’m using a Garmin/Airmar P72 8-pin 500 W transducer.Glued in-hull plastic transducer, works great with my GPSMAP 7610.

As Leonard indicated, with the 7600 series, you have 8 and 12-pin xducer ports, so your inhull transducer is just an added, direct plug-in (GT15 or GT8).

I solved that problem by buying a new old stock Lawrence 4X Pro for 50 bucks,or a new Lowrance 3X for under a hundred.

Well thats good news. So there is a solution and one that sounds pretty simple if you're saying just add the GT15 direct as long as it does not effect anything else.

Right. The reason I suggested the GT15 is the watts are more and the frequency is CHIRP 85-165. The 2d element in the GT52 is CHIRP 150-240. That way if you run both at the same time you wouldn't have any interference problems. The GT8 frequency is the same as the 2d on the GT52 so if your going to run both at the same time without interference you have to take them off chirp and set them to different manually set frequencies.
