Johnson 175 speedo pitot problem

I posted this in the Stratos section and havent had any replies so I figured I would try here. I bought a 99 285 Pro Elite in March and my speedo wasnt working. I found that the tube on the lower unit wasnt hooked up so I ordered a new pitot for it. I know that it is supposed to hook into the front of the motor but the hole is way too small for it to go into, I already checked to make sure nothing is in the hole but its clean. Where can I get a pitot to fit, I ordered the one it calls for on the parts site but it aint right. The motor is a Johnson 175 J175PLEES Serial# G 04670744 and the part# I ordered was 0336535. Any help is appreciated.

It goes up higher on the lower unit just below the seam for the mid and the lower. The hole is plenty big enough. That is the correct part number.

The old one may broken off. That happened to me I used a small drill bit and an o-ring pick and removed the broken part.

I thought the old one may have broken off but when I started to clean it out no plastic came out, only paint and metal so I stopped.

Thanks for the pics Dan, I came home and checked my motor. The hole that the elbow is supposed to go into is not clogged with the old broken one, also the pitot hole in the bullett part isnt there on mine. There is a hole on the side of the lower unit about 3 inches in front of the intake. Is this the pitot hole? I will get some pics in the morning. Thanks for all your help.

No problem. Glad to help. ChampioNman, what do you think if we both have the same year, make and model number motors, but his lower unit is different? Sounds like a swap was made to me on his? I bought my motor new in the crate so I know mine is stock from OMC.
