    Tracker question

I recently sold my 97 Skeeter..because of the lakes that I primarily fish are smaller and my Skeeter was just too much..

SO..... I have been looking at Tin rigs, and there seems to be a TON of Trackers on the market with various ages. The last 10-12 years it looks as if the Trackers have changed hull designs...can anyone tell me the pros and cons of the new versus old? Also, is there a huge difference between a 40hp and a 50hp in terms of speed or just handling? My last question is about putting a power pole on a tracker...anyone doing that? Thanks for any advice..cas...I don't want to waste money...I am looking at older Triton magnums, Lowe Stingers, and Xpress (but man they want big$).

    Re: Tracker question (Bricball)

They want more money for the other boats for a reason! They are better built than a Tracker! I have an 05 Tracker and the only reason I bought it was I got TOO good a deal! I would have bought a Lowe in a heart beat because they are a much nicer boat, and they don't have ANY wood in them!

i bought a 98 tracker and the hull is very different from the newer ones. the front of the hull hangs low nearly like a deep V boat the newer ones look more like a bass boat. im sure they ride better than mine no matter how far i trim it i dont think it will come all the way out the water. i dont like mine i thought i had got a good deal my gf says if i sell it the next one better sleep well

    Re: (jbp84)

jbpall84, you should look at the hull bottoms of the Trackers, there is no place to go "all the way out the water" since there is no hull pad to do that. They are not "high performance" boats.
Even if they had a pad hull, a 50 or 60 HP motor wouldn't have enough speed to get on the pad.

croix-man, I don't see your Lowe in the boats for sale section! That might be a good place to list it if your selling it! Good Luck! They are NICE boats!

    Re: Tracker question (Bricball)

read this thread it will make you want to run out and buy a tracker tomorrow ! http://www.bbcboards.net/zerot...age=1

Trackers are a broken boat and warranty has been a headache ! I have 250 hours on my motor and I bet I have more then that delivering it to the dealer for warranty !

I'm still on hold for 3 weeks now to find out if they will finish fixing/bandaging my boat

    Re: Tracker question (Stumps)

OH>>>>da@m!!! is this a common problem with a certain model/year? Obviously they are the most common boat on the market for the sheer reason of the number of BPS locations...but I have seen a bunch of tracker owners that appear to be satisfied... I don't want to touch a tracker if they are having aluminum weld problems.

    Re: Tracker question (Bricball)

you know I'm not sure of any exact numbers but I have read of some pre 2000 and as high as 08 maybe newer .

Google tracker welds cracking or tracker boat leaks see how many hits you get

Like I said I have 250 hours on the motor and I am @ about 20 hours in drive time in just this last repair and it ain't over yet cuz the fat lady hasn't called me back err I mean sung.

And before you say its because im in Canada that I have to drive so far its not I have TWO Tracker dealers less then a hour away and one is BPS but according to the manager at the BPS tracker dealer <table width="90%" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 align=center><tr><td>Quote &raquo;</td></tr><tr><td class="quote">"THEY DO NOT do warranty and you have to take it to hully gully"</td></tr></table> (3 hour drive)

good luck on your decision and I hope you have better luck then me

I think it was around 2002 or so when Tracker went to welded hulls, riveted prior to that. There are plenty of satisified Tracker owners, but I would look for a Triton Magnum.

I had a choice between the Tracker and Crestliner ( Triton ) last spring. went with the Crestliner after 35 years of glass and could'nt be happier.

The New Lowe Stingers, Triton VT, and Crestliners are all pretty much the same boat. All owned by Brunswick and share the same design. I wouldn't be afraid of any of them. All are very nice looking rigs!

I've got an 06 tracker 175 and my tournament partner has a 96(ish) 175 as well. He has owned his since new with no problems. This will be my third year in mine and haven't had any problems with the boat.

I have an 05 PT 175 that I use 2x a week year round. Cross my fingers no issues yet. It has been flawless. Has 60 4 stroke 36-38 mph pending load. I hope I don't have these issues in the future.

    Re: Re: (bare2)

I had an '08 PT 190 and had no problems with it. I didn't have a jackplate on it either though. Not saying that's whats causing the weld issues. That's just what I've noticed as the common issue in my few experiences. Anyways, it was a great boat. You just have to understand that, no matter what make you end up with, a tin rig is just not the same a glass rig. For instance, when you are fishing, the slightest breeze will push that boat around. That means you are on the TM more often. It's just little things like that. Mine actually took rough water really well. It had tons of storage, seating for 3, and a big front deck. I loved that boat. I oly sold it because I moved out of the country.
