Does anyone own a polar kraft? I just bought one this weekend but won't be picking it up until wednesday. It's an 05 180 HP Pro with a 03 150 Yamaha Vmax. Just curious how the ride is and what my top end speed could be.

According to a test done by Bass and Walleye Boats as printed in their October 2005 edition, the boat, equipped with a Yamaha 150 4-stroke the Polar Kraft was able to do 59 mph. Sadly, they also said it was a wet riding boat. Google the boat and read up on it.
I took her out last weekend for the first time with another person in the boat. The water was flat and no wind unlike the first 3 times I took it out. I thought I would be able to get a good idea of what top end speed I would get but I could not get it to turn more than 4700 rpm and 45mph on GPS. Granted me and my bud probably weight 500# together I thought I would be doing a lot better than that. I was turning over 5300 rpm and running mid 50's by myself in less than ideal conditions. The does not have a jack plate and is running a yamaha 23m prop. Any suggestions?
You should be turning more RPMs than that regardless of you and your buddy weighing 500 lbs. I would change the spark plugs and test it again. By your RPM numbers it seems like you might be running on 5 cylinders and thus my suggestion for changing the plugs.
Ok I will try that, I just bought the boat a month ago. The motor is an 03 with about 70 hrs on it now so everything is probably all original.
Been checking out the polarkraft website, the Tournament Pro 175 looks like a well laid out bass fishing alum. boat. I like that the deck comes all the way back. Plus the fiberglass console is a plus.
I love the Xpress boats except for one thing, the interior was not laid out by a bass fisherman, if they would bring those front decks all the way back it would be great, that wasted space in between the console and front deck is useless.
Alumacraft had the front deck that comes all the way back but I would rather have extra storage up front instead of a front livewell, just dont see the need for 2 livewells both front and aft.
My 180 has full front deck and huge rear deck. It has plenty of storage too. It's laid out very well. The livewell is a little smaller than I would like but it will hold 5.![]()
I have a 05 180 Pro also with a VMax 150. Will run mid 50's. Polar Krafts test data showed 55.6 at 5300 rps's. Hull weight alone is around 1300 lbs which is the heaviest I saw when shopping around. Rated for 150 which is also higher than most (not sure what factors determine HP ratings). Overall has been a very good boat, seems to be built well as I've just had the deck off to replace the carpet.
I have a 04 kodiak also re carpeting now. they are built like a tank very impressed also
I'm very pleased with it so far. I got it up to 58.2 yesterday with a buddy in the boat. I think I can get it over 60 by myself but it starts to porpoise when trimmed all the way up so I have back it down. Do you have a jack plate on your boat? I'm thinking about it, but cant decide.
