Question about PS31 - Bow mount and power

    Hi guys,

I have a question for you Panoptix folks out there... first off, is the only cable connected to the new transducer the panoptix connector that goes to the garmin unit? And second, if I get this, I would like to bowmount it but not on the trolling motor shaft (I don't even see how I can.. it would be in the way every time I stow and deploy the Terrova) so what solutions are out there? I have a tin rig if that helps and I'm OK with something that clamps on and off.

    Thanks!
    Dan

The PS31 and the Terrova don't seem to be a good match for the reasons you indicate. However, a PS21 can be barrel-mounted on the Terrova.

    Hi Todd,

Sorry what do you mean by barrel mounted? As in mounted to the motor housing? If so, would it interfere with the US2 built in puck section?

    Thanks,
    Dan

There may be some typical crosstalk interference from the US2 transducer, but physically there should be no issue. With a barrel-mount, to minimize trolling motor interference, mount the PS21 as far forward as possible. In this picture, the lift assist was removed to run the xducer cables.

Ah OK that helps quite a bit, thank you! Now is it a single cable running to the Garmin unit or is there a separate power wire that needs to be connected, and if so, can it go to a trolling motor battery?

    Thanks!

There is a separate power cable with the ps21. Not good to run off TM battery, might cause interference.

Todd with the 2 transducer ( the ps21 and the other garmin transducer) so close on the trolling motor is there any interference?

No issues between the GT22 and the PS21. There is a little trolling motor interference with the PS21.

    PS 31 on a Terrova

I have my PS-31 rigged on my terrova. The rudder is "dulled by the transducer meaning it doesn't slice the water as well. But works for me. I attached the wire just below the head and just above the motor housing.

    No interference...

My fear with your setup is that I smack the bottom of my TM a lot.. .stumps, rocks etc. Not hard, but enough to give it a thump. I can't imagine the transducer lasting very long if I mount it like you did

I was wondering what angle you have that set at, looks way over the 45 degrees.
I just mounted mine today, same mount as yours.
    Thanks
