Need some information on 1995 115 Evinrude

I used to be an OMC-a-phile (and still am secretly LOL) A gentelman on the Ranger Board is telling me about his 1995 115 Intruder "GL" model. I have looked through the 1995 Brochure a million times and don't have a clue what he is talking about. He said its some sort of special 6,400 rpm motor with a special lower-unit with additional lower water pick-ups. Completely stock it pushes his 16' Ranger (with 13.5 inches of set-back!) to over 64 mph.

So I would love more info on a 1995 115 Intruder GL edition if anyone has it. Here is the thread:

    Thanks

Yep the 115 GL will run in that area range is 5,000-6,000. HP is rated at 5,500 RPM. Limiter is at 6,400. http://rides.webshots.com/phot...UppLc

This is from Liquid Nirvana's web site. Check the thread above from Seahorse.

Thanks for the info. Does it actually make any HP above 6000? The experience I have with the 115 Intuder (non-GL I guess) was that there wasnt much difference between 5700-6000 rpm. This may have been this one motor. I have never noticed any different lower-units either. All the ones I saw were the same on all the 90 and 115 60 degree eagles and the 75-130 ETECs.

    thanks again

When they say HP is rated at a certain RPM that is about it can't make more than the power band. The GC is a little different styling wise (narrower), so I would imagine that the heads were shaved some and it has bigger carbs etc. Merc didn't care about the V-4's kicking their azz as much as they did when the V-6 Fast Strike and Intruders did when they first came out. They sure didn't like that at all.

Is it the same for the 1995 Faststrike 115 from Johnson?

The model number on my Johnson 115 Faststrike is J115GLEOC...does that mean that this could be a motor that can go beyond 6000 rpm?

Yep as long as it has been maintained properly your can hang with your motor. But if not then you won't be happy.

    Re: (ChampioNman) (ChampioNman)

Thanks ChampioNman. I fished a Monday morning wake-up tourney yesterday, and was passed by a Ranger 185 with a Evinrude 150. I was able to pretty much stay with them, which kinda supprised me. So know I know why. I don't usually puch my motor too much anyway, but its nice to know....when those Ranger pass.

Keep her running clean and healthy and she will serve you for a long time. Some of those models slipped by the inspectors. .
