I have a 797SI mounted in the dash, but there isn't enough space there for the larger units. You will need to figure on using a ram mount for the 998.

Mount a big ball on the top cap with a 6 inch arm and don't look back.

Even though a 998si and a merc smart craft digital gauge for your dash would look cool,,,, the speedo gauge is of no use(with a coned gear case) and the merc smartcraft gauge could handle the rest...rpm water psi etc.... God I 'm gonna ramble on for days until I pick this boat up

I remimber seeing a pic of Eli's rig with a large Lawrence unit mounted to a board and the board attached to the floor board of his Stroker next to the consol. This makes it removable when it isn't needed.

Actually it's on a Ram mount attached to the floor. It's out of the wind and won't hook brush ect when fishing. I use my 5 series for driving GPS/Depth and if you were using the sidefinder etc it would be at slow speeds so this works well for me.

Sweet,,,, Thanks for the pics... Yeah I've never been a big fan of haning a 2-3k dollar unit off the side of my boat, just to scarced it would snap off.

Me either, I like the dash mounted style, much cleaner look, less wind resistance too - you just have to put up with a smaller screen.

It is a personal choice, to each his own.............

Lot of other reasons as well but banging or worrying about a 3K unit just somehow falling off into the lake is certainly high on the list

I can understnd the worries that a person would have with hanging a $3k unit off to the side. But there are pros and cons just about anywhere u mount a big screen unit. This works well for me because it doesnt take any space up where the space is needed. I've ran this particular mount up to 84 mph and it didnt budge or move. But again, this was just another option to show u wat can be done.

Think if I were ordering one I'd go with an hds 10 in the dash and network a Yamaha. Use the big screen for the gauges or split w/ gps. And just not have a useless mph gauge. All the gauges could be replaced with it.

Lss1 can then be shared with another hds up front. I dunno if another hds 10 could fit in a pop up delete or not.

Re: Any of you guys have Humminbird SI units on these boats (Matt Mc)

HDS 7 fits in a coffin, not sure if you can go any larger, certainly not in a pop up delete - perhaps with some modifications.

The speedo is useless and Stroker hasn't even hooked one up for years - it just fills the gap...I like the Livorsi gps speedo I put in Nightmare.

I like the idea of 1 huge HDS 10 in the dash with the Yammy...........
