Fishing prop for Simonized 300XS / Stroker combo?

Hey Guys, whatcha think? What would be a good fishing prop for a new 300XS with a Simon lightened flywheel and reflashed ECU (6800 Rev limiter) on my Stroker boat?? I'd probably prop it to run ~6400 with a heavy fishin load, so I could bump the limiter on a very light load.

My first guess is a Croxton 30P Bravo with big vent holes. I want decent acceleration cuz many lakes I fish aren't that big. With all that torque, I figure I could go up 2" in pitch over what seems like a good prop for the 250XS, which is the 28 Bravo.

I had a nice conversation with Eric Simon. Got me all juiced up!

Thanks a bunch!
Brian

I dont know that the 28 Bravo would be a good choice on a 250xs. I think if you can get Performer to make you a nice 30 performer 4 Bullet cut your real close to what your after.....May take a few trips to them but im sure it will be worth it!!!

Useing your description of HEAVY FISHING load and 6400 rpm set.. I would try the 30 Bravo worked my Mark.. It may need to be pitched up a touch but not sure.. Need a minimum of dual pvs holes with the 1.62 gears..

For light load and looking for speed I would go with the Performer in 32/34 pitch...

Yeah, Outlaw, thanks. I definitely don't know what the best fishing and speed props are for the 250XS. I was thinking about Dan Hare's boat and how he loved the Bravo 28, but I think he had a 225 EFI motor at that time. Thanks again.

to everyone for your comments. I must be underestimating what the 300XS can do, cuz I wasn't thinking it could turn a 32. I also have no experience with how much of a difference Eric's flywheel and ECU reflash might make. I know there's a few guys that have done that with Simon on a 300XS, and supposedly the results have been pretty darn good, but I haven't seen any real 'data' on the performance benefits.

I'm not sure what it will do with the raised limiter either and will be listening for the results, but with the lower original limiter you could turn a 32 with no problem!! Dan has a 28, 20 and a 32 Bravo and has ran the 28 on his ride for a long time, the gears make all the difference also we run the smaller props for fishing with the 1.62 gears to help with the hole shot also..

Yes Dan Hare runs a 28 bravo day in and day out for fishing....I have tried the bravos and havent had much luck...The holeshot and acceleration i get from the over the hub props like the performers cant be beat.

Not sure about the 300xs, but I can tell you I run a bullet cut 28 performer 4 blade for fishing with a partner and a fairly heavy load. It will run 96 and change with two at 6450 and 92 and change at 6150. This is with a Hydro-Tec Phase $$$+, (everything they offer and then some)... Holeshot is decent, but midrange accelleration is fantastic, I've tried a 30 BC performer 4 also, holeshot not very good accelleration is ok and havent been on a lake big enough to stretch it out during a tourney.. Light the 30 was running 103.4 on the limiter (6450)..

Hope that helps...

That old 30p Hydromotive is a good fishing prop that carries a load very well...especially after Croxton re-worked it...I imagine it and the Bravo should be close

I had that same motor on mine. The 32 bullet cut is a good combo. The lightweight flywheel will give you an even better holeshot with over 100 mph top end when you want to play. With a load the 30 bravo ain't bad but you won't get anywhere near the top end performance.

Re: (BigNasty Stroker)

StrokerXS ran a 300xs at low elevation, he ran a huge variety of props. I run a 300xs with 1.75 gears but I run with a elevation disability and my numbers arn't as impressive as the others but I do work at it. David you need to step in here with some advise.

This was with the 32 bullet cut with the 300xs on a 90 degree day, troller on and all my gear. If you run at elevation or with a very heavy load, obviously this won't be the prop for you but with a one man fihsing load it runs good.

Re: (BigNasty Stroker)

Very cool, BigNasty! You remember what your tach was at? Starting to get into the rev limiter? I'm guessin 6200 ish. Thanks

The lakes I fish are between 700 and 1700 ft elevation, so I shouldn't be significantly affected by that... a couple mph maybe. Not sure.
