    93sv Loose connections

I have a dash mount 93sv and the wires keep vibrating out of the back of the unit. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how did you correct it. I can't believe these units don't come with screw or twist on connectors rather than just push connections.

The units come with screw on collars for the cables. They are not pre-installed on the cables, so you have to do it. Look in the packaging for them. They are split in half and have rubber O-rings for seals.

If you use those, the cables should stay on.

Garmin sells them but sometimes - if you call and ask nicely and they are in a good mood - they will just send you a set.

I don't recall my echo map 93 having the o-rings and screw collars connectors )non chirp version).
Mine had 3 separate smaller connectors that go into the back of the unit. They were held into the "cradle" with a clip pin and the unit snaps into the cradle with a positive lock.
The cradle was either bail mounted or dash mountable.

Since they came with the boat, you may want to check how it was mounted. The pins should not vibrate loose if installed properly. I can see this being an issue if the prior owner did not install the unit the way recommended in the installation guide.
The unit should be mounted in the dash with the cradle connected.

Here is a link to the installation guide. Check your installation against the recommended method.

Hey, thanks for the installation instructions. It appears that the unit was not properly installed in the dash. I will call Garmin to get the needed parts.

You may also want to order an extra set of the "weather stripping" to seal the unit in the dash. They are somewhat "fragile" and may tear/rip the taking when unit out of the dash.
The foam/rubber is sticky on the back side and run along the side of the unit where it screws into the dash. Mine tore a little when I removed mine. Try to check if the prior owner used them during the install as well.
