I tried the search, but nothing came up for the 185. A buddy noticed one on Craigslist and I told him to check it out since I had heard that the Javelins were decent boats, just not as fancy as the Stratos ones. But, does anyone know anything about this specific model Javelin? Good, bad, decent power with a 150? Etc? From the owner reports, it looks like it was a pretty fast for an 18' boat, quicker than my Ranger anyway.

The hull for the 185 was one of the hulls that Stratos decided to keep around, and if memory serves correct, it is the hull used on the Stratos 285XL..

If my memory is correct 2002 and maybe 2003 was the only year/years that a Stratos 185 J series were made. Late in 2001 the company who owned Stratos and Javelin (Platinmun Equity)decided to do away with the Javelin line of boats. In 2002 they came up with a new design based off the Javelin 389/Renegade 19 hull and named it Stratos J series 185.
In 2003 stratos done away with the J series name and re-named the boat Stratos 285. All Stratos 285's made today are the same hull design as a Stratos Javelin series 185.
I have a 2003 stratos 185 with a 150 vmax. For an 18.5' boat, it fishes very well and it rides even better. With a light load and half tank of gas, I can run 64. I would recommend the boat to anyone!
I have a Sratos 285 Pro XL and a buddy had a 2003 Javelin 185. Put them side by side without decals and you couldn't see any difference. Great running boat, very smooth and stable for an 18.5.
