    Gas shocks for rod lockers

My 07 294xl doesn't have a gas shock on either rod locker, so i want to add them. Can any one tell me which ones to get, where to get them and the proper mounting location for them?

Re: Gas shocks for rod lockers (TroyBoy30)

I bought attwood brand for my javelin as that was the brand the OEM used to begin with. stock was 20# but I put 40# replacements on and couldn't be happier with it. My boat used the SL-33-90 (20#, they changed the numbers since 1998) and now uses SL-33-40-5. These are 9.5" compresses, 15" extended, 40PSI of pressure. They use a socket composite end. I don't think the mounting is super critical other than holding the lid open and measuring the gap to find the distance you need for the extended length spring you buy (in my case 15"). if its off a little the lid will just lean a little and as long as the spring is strong enough it will stay open. I added them to my dry locker with 7.5 extended length springs. just had a friend hold it open, measure 7.5 inches from from wall to lid, put the mounts in and connected the spring. easy as pie. Hope this helps

I would bet that your lids are already pre-drilled for these. I have an 06 294 and did the same thing. Look on your lids in the middle and you should have 2 holes already drill out. I went and took the number off a 294 on the lot and just ordered mine from Stratos. I think i spent $54 for the shocks and brackets.
