    HomePort question

So I loaded my maps up so I can view them in homeport and noticed it does not show any contour depths.
I am not enabling a feature or something?

Did you put the maps on an sd card or copy them to the hard drive? They need to be on an sd card or USB drive or Homeport wont find them.

Also, check under VIEW and make sure Basic Chart Only isnt selected.

Then make sure the chart you want is in the drop down box - Bluechart or lakevu. You might still have Global Chart selected.

Larry, exported to SD, moved the USB thumb drive, Homeport loads my charts and its not on basic and does not show contour depth.
    Proper chart is selected.

    hmmmmmm.

I think you may have exhausted my limited knowledge of Homeport....

Oh, wait - what lake is it? Let me pull it up on my chart and see what it looks like.

Hey Larry, so I have the lake vu maps.
I am looking at several lakes in Michigan I fish, Saginaw Bay, Burt Lake, Houghton Lake, they all show contour lines but no depth readings.

Also, i fired up my 93SV Chirp in the garage to play with it and zoomed in on the lakes and it had the depth readings for the breaks.

Ah! Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying.

Homeport sucks in many ways. One of them is that, mot of the time, the depth numbers dont show up until you click or hover over on a contour line. Select the Arrow tool from the menu, click on any depth contour and the depth will pop up. Thats the only way to get them except for spot depths and a few other depth numbers at certain zoom levels. In the BlueChart areas for example, if you are in Navigation mode, then spot depths show up when you are zoomed in enough, but you still have to hover over or click on the contour lines elsewhere.

You must have a newer version of the Lakeview charts than I do. I my copy doesnt show any contour lines for Burt Lake or Houghton Lake.

Haha I remember when I went through this exact issue only to find out you had to put your mouse over the lines to see the depths. DOH!

Yah, but if thats all you had to do it would have been easily noticed.
You also have to change the cursor from pan mode to pointer, then hover over break lines.
I have to figure this crap all week and it sure is nice to come on this site and ask someone who has seen the same issue

Yep when I first got the app, I was looking through all the menus, going through all the settings and basically getting really frustrated. Then I happen to sit my mouse cursor over a line and out popped the depth. Not one of my finer moments.

Homeport is soooooo close to being the best app around......

I sure wish they would put a little more time into improvements. It could easily blow every other option out of the water - which would only be good for Garmin.
