Shelly, I was told by Emerald Isle not to run a 4 blade prop on the new SLE. Perhaps because the four blade Renegade and Shooter props are small hub which requires a weed ring.
jim,
What were yor numbers previously with the L2???

Shelly,
Whitaker is running a new 3 blade 28 Txp. How much you want for the 26 ot4???

I dont believe my top end has been affected whatsoever, although I have not had much seat time since the change over.
The hole shot is much better, the top end seems to be the same.
I will have more info to post after the next tournament.
Jim I am running a 28 TXP 3 blade.
Yeah Glenn got to watch the rpm's on breakover. It is not as bad if you start at 3.5"-4" under the pad, then I raised it to 2.5" under the pad for wot#'s.

Ok ran the new SLE gearcase last weekend but am just now getting to post the results. Ran my 27 tempest on the 250 ho with tournament load and 3/4 fuel with me and a buddy. Boat has excellent hole shot I mean its up on on plane quick. Ran 72 to 74 mph at 5900 rpms. I am going to have to try a 28 or 29 pitch i believe to get the numbers I was running before(83mph at 5900 with the L2).
The boat had excellent mid range throttle and even seemed to handle better. Most of all I am very satisfied with the hole shot compared to the L2 gearcase. I dont think it will take much to get the top end back as I will have to play with som props and will post the results later.
Jim,
I am watching your posts like a hawk. Cant wait for your next posts. (REASON!?) I also run a 21XL Magnum. I am going through break-in right now on brand new 250 HO Etec. There are no places around here to test props, and no one I know has anything bigger than a 27. Sooooo, I am hoping to get guidance from these posts. Any info you have is GREATLY appreciated!!

I am a fisherman for life! I will always be a fisherman! It's not something I do, it is who I am. Fishing is not an escape, it is where I belong, where I am supposed to be. It is not a place, but a life long journey. It is a passage my father showed me and that I will show others.

With the new SLE lower unit the 28 RakerII would not get out of the hole. I believe it is NOT too much pitch, the vent holes are to small.
The 25 RakerII has twice the size vent holes and comes out of the hole like a rocket, only problem is with a full tournament load it red lines(6000RPM) at 73 MPH.
For my 21Magnum XL 250 HO combination a 27 pitch with the proper sized vent holes would be the best combination.
I have a 27 RakerII from Mark Croxton, the vent holes are going to be machined out. hopefully this will be the answer.
More news to come after testing the 27 pitch.
JIm Party.....
Yes, I called you Party because it is awesome....
In a previous post you stated the 25 pitch Raekr at 6000 rpmswith 77 mph and in a later post you stated 6000 rpms at 73 mph.... which one is accurate???
Jim, could you tell me more about the 28 Raker II, LW's full or empty? Speed and RPM's? Was the hole shot just sluggish, or was it a real dog? Where I fish....the Columbia River for Smallies. The hole shot is not a big deal. But making good time over distance is. Thanx

clm6741 re-read my post about 77mph it states 6000 +
73 mph at 6000.
Bassfins.
with a full tournament load the 28 raker II wont get you out of the hole if you are running the same hull and load as I am.
I believe it is in the design of the vent holes on the 28 rakerII, they are not big enough to allow sufficient ventilation on hole shot.
I will have more info for you once I get my 27 RakerII back from the machine shop.
Thanx Jim,
Sorry to be such a bother, but just spent alot on the new motor. With gas prices and budget, I'm kinda limited on prop funds. So I have to try to make a good choice right out of the gate. I am currently running a 26 pitch, (Too small), and am about to clear break-in. So I think you can see why I am hanging on all of you're tests.

Tried my 2 old props last night.
80* air, 64* water, no wind, river system. I ran up and down the current and averaged the speeds.
27p B+B'ed Temp +:
76mph avg.
5sec. HS
RPM on the limiter 6200ish
(with L2 lu 78mph with similar load @ 5800rpm)
26 Bravo1:
73.5mph avg.
4sec. HS
RPM on the limiter 6200ish
(with L2 lu 74mph with similar load @ 5800rpm)
This is with my medium to light load, solo (200#), 1/2 tank gas, full LW's.
Both props did feel like they lost a little nose lift but I also think it could be from getting to the rpm limiter when trimming up. I ran the props from 4" to 2.5" under the pad. The PtP distance really did not make much of a difference due to spinning both props to the limiter. I hope this info helps some of you guys.

Brad,
I for one REALLY appreciate any and all info when it comes to props! I am fairly new to bass boats, (about 7 years). This whole prop thing is enough to drive a guy crazy. My old 225HO Ficht would scream with a 26p. But the 26 seams to be too small for my new 250HO with the 1:85 gears. A decent hole shot, with as much top end as possible, is all I'm hoping for. This bass boat thing grabbed this Alaska boy in a big way. But MAN is it expensive! But guess I'm addicted now!

Joey. yeah the bassboats can be addictive and expensive no doubt about it. What you see is the frustration that happens when nobody has had a chance to test the new boat/motor/LU combo. From what I can tell so far from my testing and talking with a couple people is what ever you were running with the 1.71 gears you will want to go up 2" in pitch with the same brand/style of prop. Now it gets tricky when you want to switch brands of props also.

Brad,
Took the boat out yesterday on the river, (Columbia). First time to some-what strech her legs, with the new motor......
85 air temp
slight breeze
all my gear
two people (not big boy's)
LW's half full
26 X 141/2 prop
half tank of gas
71.6 mph at 5600
Question? Is there any way to tell who's prop this is? There's no manufacturers name on it. Just measurements and serial number on the hub. This is the same prop that came on the Ficht when I bought the boat. Awsome hole shot, just hoping for more top end. Maybe try stepping up in pitch, depending on what I here from Jim and his 27 Raker.

Joey,I dont know how to tell if the prop is not marked. I would also think you would spin the 26p prop to the RPM limiter on the HO. What year is the new 250HO?
