does a jack plate help a Stratos ?

I am buying a 1997 Stratos 282 with a 150hp Intruder and a 24 pitch 3 blade Raker. There is no Jackplate~~the boat is quick out the hole and runs 62 GPS at 5500RPM at WOT. I videoed it running with the owner driving and it dosen't seem to lift like my old boat. My question is do I leave it alone or should i have a Jack Plate installed? It has the origional no feed back steering and I plan on having new steering installed for safety, so will a Jack Plate help the boat lift better or does a Stratos perform best without a Jackplate.?? Well I guess I will be with the Stratos family now.

I'd say those numbers you have is probally as good as you'll get. my 284 has a JP and it runs flat too. I think those models just dont have the lift like others.

I know it will help your rig. if nothing else it will handle better.

6" plate on that rig set at 3 to 3.5 below pad should hit mid 60's and yes you should have a little bow lift. It shouldnt run flat.

Have you raised the motor to the highest position yet? May be all you need.

    The 282 I bought new in 97 came with a 10 inch Rapid Jack. I had a 175 Intruder.

HYD steering, a 6" manual jackplate and a good prop (let Mark C work it) and you will satisfied knowing you have the best you can on that boat.
