Side Imaging on a 201

Have everything installed except the transducer for the side scan. Is there an easy was to get the cable from the front to the back?

I used something called a glow stick I'm sure it's also called something else. It's a 1/8 flexible fiberglass rod that's 6' long. It's not hard to do.

That's what I used to run the wires for my stereo, Bluewaters, and Yamaha interface cable.

Had one from my days long ago as a cable installer.

I'd like to add a suggestion. After you fish something from front to back, also attach a length of twine or small rope before you pull the new cable. Leave a couple feet of the twine at the console and a couple more at the rear of the boat, hidden away. That way the next time you need to pull something through all you need do is use the twine you left behind the last time you were there. .

I ran all my HB cables with a fish tape.....Those things come in handy!!

I also like the fiberglass puller....these are GREAT....

Go to your local grocery store and see if they'll give you a strand of bailing wire they use to make bails. Thats what I use to run wire. I use some electrical tape on the straight end since it is pointy.

I took a piece of 1/2 inch cpvc and taped some 1/4 rope to it. Pushed it from the small hole under the console to the rear. Untaped the rope and used it to pull my wire back to the console. The 1/2 cpvc was just laying around and didn't cost me any money. It was rigid but plenty flemsy to make a sharp 90 bend under the console and into the hole then toward the stern of the boat.

Another little tip....

Check to make sure there isn't already some twine left in there for this exact reason. I've had a new boat each year since '04, and I believe every one of them had at least one piece of twine in it from the factory for this reason. Just a thought before going to too much trouble. You may have to reach up in the back, or behind the panel in the front, but it's usually in there.
