    Garmin GA29 GPS Antenna Removal

I have an old Garmin 178 Sonar/Chartplotter with a GA29 antenna mounted in the fiberglass just in front of the cockpit of my bass boat. What I need to know is how to remove it (without damaging it). I can't get the cover off of it to get to the mounting screws. Need to know what tool and what size.

I have no clue. You might try to find the installation manual and see how its installed to begin with - might give you an idea. You could also call Garmin, but I dont know how much help they will be with this type of issue.

Looking at the picture on their website it appears to be built just like the Lowarnce puck (appears) it is two pieces, the dome on top screws off and the mounting screws are under the cap. ONLY GUESSING

Thanks. I have been through the mounting instructions I can find on line and it looks like there is a small set screw. The way my puck is mounted I can't see into the (set screw opening?) so I can't tell exactly what I am working with. Just feeling around with an Allen wrench. I guess I need to talk to someone that actually works with them.
