    GPS can't find signal

    Hey,
I just installed my Echomap 53dv on the front of my boat. I turned it on hoping to play around with the map, but it can't seem to find a gps signal. From what I have found online sometimes if the unit hasn’t been powered on in a while it takes some time to find the signal, I left it on over an hour and nothing. Now I’m in the backyard, not on water, but I don’t see how that would make a difference. Any suggestions? Also, does anyone have a phone number for garmin? I can’t find one.

My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

Yeah, time to call customer support. It should get a lock in maybe 10 minutes max.

So, I felt pretty dumb after calling customer support. I guess maybe the GPS signal isn't as strong as I thought. I had the boat under a shed and I have tall cedar trees around the border of my backyard. I pulled the boat out to the front yard and had a full signal.
