two units on the way, striker 7cv and 7sv, a question

well I have procrastinated long enough with my 2009 lowrance units that came on my stratos when I bought it. I ordered two garmin strikers today, both 7 inch, cv for bow and sv for console. is there a way of hooking them together so they can share waypoints? would I just wire them both together then to the power source?

really looking forward to the units arriving next week, been a long time coming!

I could be wrong, but I dont think you can share anything with those units. Looking at the specs I dont see any networking capability listed at all - no NMEA and no hi speed networking. They also dont have sd card slots, so I think you are out of luck.

You can download the installation and owners manuals from Garmins website and double check that.

One of the reasons Striker series is so inexpensive. No sharing, no SD card.

You can share waypoints using Garmin High Speed protocol. The wires are part of the power cord cluster. See Todd's post under the thread "Sharing Confusion"

I had forgotten about that thread listing the strikers as having Garmin Hi Speed sharing. CRS again!

Another bad thing about Garmins website - zero mention of that in any of the MFD specs or owners manuals I have looked at.

To the OP - check here for details. You wont find it with any normal search.

thanks for the info guys! yes I know there are some drawbacks to the new striker series, but the 4 lakes I fish mostly, smith mountain, moomaw, claytor, and bluestone, I know like the back of my hand. I will still be able to put a waypoint at stuff I find, but my biggest priority in deciding to go with these units are the clarity and the ability to find bait and schools. I have been using traditional sonar for so long ive gotten pretty good at it, but when in other peoples rides with down and side scan, I can see how I am at such a disadvantage, especially fall winter and early spring. thanks again for the info
