Forget the tubes and buy rod sleeves with the mesh material. No more broken guides and can get more rods in with no tangles.

never heard of those. explain what they are and where i can buy them. thank you
im looking to tubes in the rod box like the new boats have. all rods have micro guides
If you have all new rods then maybe you have all micro guides. Either way I like the stick jackets. If my new boat had tubes I would take them out. Whatever floats you boat. You asked for suggestions and I shared what works well for me and several others on here. If you want tubes go for it. The problem I had with tubes was the stress added to the guides thus more ceramic inserts popping out. I like the added protection the stick jackets give you in the boat and out. You can carry 20 rods bundled up and have no tangles. Keeps cobwebs and dust off. Protect fishing line from nicks from the tubes and other rods. Plus keeps the rod lockers more open for when you not fishing and need more storage. Color code your rods for quicker access to a specific one. But hey if you want the squeaky tubes that limit you to ten rods and guaranteed to break something and limits that storage to rods only like the "new boats" have go for it.![]()
yep I use stick jackets ,no tubes in my boat.![]()

I agree as well, the tubes do in fact make the guide inserts break and fall out, i'm removing mine this winter and switching to sleeves!

my '99 21ss came with terrible rod holders, all it seems to do is either scratch or break off rod eyes. i have been looking to buy the sleeves but no money to buy them right now....so for the time being i seem to take more time loading my rods into the boat than i do on the water haha
