Well, the Evo is down until next week.......

Thought I had a cable stretched causing intermittent, then permanent sticking in forward gear position. I wrassled that sombitch for three hours before conceding that I couldnt get it. (hard for an old mechanic to do) Called Jamie at Day's and drove it down there to see what the heck the problem was. Ended up being the lower unit. It was trashed, absolutely SMOKED. The Evo has 70 hours of pretty hard running on it and I am really nit pissed or whatever. Just hate to have my baby away from home for a few days. I want to tell ya'll this: Day's are first class all the way. Before I left they had date of arrival for the NEW lower unit and date of completion, guaranteed. Quality service department they have there.

Thanks Jeff. I know they will. That's the one thing I can count on is the dealer to get be back and on my feet again. Ill be heading to Norris Lake in Tennessee lext Thurs night after picking it up

I bet you even still had the paint on your skeg didn't you? They run better after you wear off that paint. ......but then again I am a shallow water river rat.

but in all seriousness, thats kind of a bold statement, im doubting very serious that people are getting better numbers out of etechs than mercs. i know very little about speed but i do know when the SHO came out, they weren't comparing speeds to an ETEC they were comparing them to a PROXS..why? iono, but i assume because of past results...but i could be wrong.

Sorry to hear about your ride, Brad.....but sounds like a short turn around and being under warraty is nice too!! At least Evinrude is actually shipping parts, heck I've been waitin almost 2 months for a lower unit from Mercury for my Motorguide TM....that's why I had them take that stinkin thing off and put me on a MK...

Not starting a war Jarred, but its seen 80 several times. gps.
I didnt "say" they were getting better numbers, but they typically are a mph or two on top faster. The SHO is a running machine, but not any faster on the evo. It may have stronger acceleration to the top speed, but not enough difference up top to worry about it.

not once on my posts will u find where I said it wouldn't do 80. Just made a statement that you ain't gettin 80 right now because
it's broke, which brings me to my point (which was clearly overlooked) that this seems to be a trend with etec, whether it's motor or LU. And brad I know you can vouch for that because I've seen ur buddy from days bein hauled in on yatesville multiple times. There are a few that havnt had problems but I know more that have than haven't. I've even ridden in yours and if you think back we talked about the change over cause I said something about being leery? But u said those problems were behind them... They maybe an urs may be a freak accident. But I just hope they get it resolved

I hear ya Bill, rumour has it that a 201 Evo with a 250 HO ran 85 with full fuel, haven't heard of a Pro Xs doing that yet
