    Processor speed problems

Just curious if there are Garmin users that have experienced slow performance due to a slow processor in the unit. The Lowrance HDS Gen1 units had serious problems with this and I just read about Humminbird Onix users having problems with 2d keeping up if they also run 360. I've not had Garmin units that long and I've not had any problems at all with this but just wondered if there were other units that did have problems. My 7610 shows no slowdown at all with GT8, GT50, PS30 and PS31 all plugged in. The echoMAP CHIRP 93sv also has no speed issues with both a combo transducer and Panoptix running. Just curious.
My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

I run a pretty complex system with 4 MFDs, Panoptix, Fusion audio server, GXM52 with weather, and more additional N2K devices than most. With this said, processing speed is unbelievably good.

I hang out on several forums and no one has ever complained about speed problems - even guys with radar, auto pilot and all the other extras.

They really did the 7600 series right. For a brand new unit it had very few mechanical or software issues

I have a 7610 and have never had an issue with it freezing but my Panoptix, on a regular basis, pauses for a second, then starts again. Pretty much all the time. Maybe every minute or so. Not a big enough issue to be a problem but it does just stop and then start again.

Two different up-dates. Software updates are here:

    https://www8.garmin.com/support/software/marine.html

Map up-dates have been difficult to get for at least the last year or so. Just one of my complaints about Garmins website management. People have been complaining that they cant download them from the website and are forced to call Garmin to have an SD card sent. You have to be careful or they sometimes send you the wrong card and your forced to leave it in the plotter as it wont up-date the internal maps.

Thanks Larry, did not do that update as I thought is was mainly for audio stuff which I don't use.

Where do I find the map updates on the website? Only ones I can find are for purchase. Unless we don't get free map updates. Their website is garbage.

You get one FREE up-date to the built-in maps within the first year of ownership.

I think that also applies to any premium maps you buy on an sd card.

If you want to try to download a map up-date, start here and click on "Update a pre-loaded fixed mount chartplotter" Its about 1/2 way down the page.

The software has fixed Onix issues with speed. Mine are pretty much spot on now.
