    1993 evinrude 200 vindicator overheating

I have a 1993 Evinrude Vindicator 200 ser#G03297913 mod#VE200SLETF The warning buzzer keeps going off from the overheat sensor on the starboard (right) side of the engine. Originally that thermostat was stuck open so I removed both thermostats and it still does it. It has a brand new water pump and good water pressure. I hooked the boat to muffs with the thermostats and covers removed and seems to be getting plenty of water thru the head. When you run the boat and the buzzer goes off the water coming out of the pee hole is not hot just warm. I unplugged the sesor wire with the buzzer still going off and it sotpped which made me think that it was the sensor. The head is much hotter than the other to the point where you cant lay your hand on the for more than about 2-3 seconds and the port head is just warm. I have replaced the overheat sesor as I thought it was bad and it still does it. I dont know if I got the correct sensor because the wires are 2 different colors but the mechanic that sold it to me said the temps should still be the same and the sensor was the same as what I removed. I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pull off the hose that runs from the port head to the starboard head and restart the motor on the muffs see if water flows or not. Could be a messed up poppit valve. Does the sensor have a tan wire on it? Or does it have a tan and a white with black trace? Don't run it forever with no T'stats.

You will have a possibility of a cold water seize (lockdown of the motor) because the block isn't to temp. The poppit valve is right next to the top of the port head.

besides the poppit valve what else could cause this problem? I am trying to find a lot of answers to try the next time i hook my boat up.

Bad head gasket. That one will cost ya $80.00 to find out because you need 2. Doubt that is it.

I have now replaced the water pump, thermostats, head gaskets, overheat sensor, and flushed out all the ports. I am now at a loss and cant find any blockages anywhere in the cooling system. Please help.
