Tachometer Help

I recently purchased a 1998 Stratos 273 Vindicator w/ a Johnson 115. Love the boat but trying to get a few odds & ends working. I am not getting any power to the tach. Where do I start ? Anyone have a wire diagram ? Thanks in advance for the help. I have been lurking on this forum & it is awesome. Already used info from the forum to install transducer in the hull.

I don't have an answer to your wiring dillema but I am sure that someone will show up soon enough to answer your question.

I had a similair problem on a Johnson 150 and it turned out the stator was bad. I hope it is just a bad wire cause that sucker was expensive!!

Thanks for the greeting. Didn't realize there was a Louisiana forum on here. I will drop in & say hi. I'm about as coonass as they come....grew up in Breaux Bridge & live in Lafayette.

Back to that tachometer. Hopefully someone may have a wiring diagram that I can use to troubleshoot.

My '96 201xl tach works at times,other times not. Any thoughts on this? I'm guessing a ground problem.

mine was intermittent and they died because the regulator/rectifier was bad. I replaced it on Saturday it's now the tach is working again. I have an Evinrude but I don't know if that's typical of all outboards, worth checking though because you can fry your electrical system if you run with a malfunctioning regulator/rectifier($100.00 part for me).
