    Water spraying in under dash

I have not had the boat out this year yet nor did I get it out last year due to relocating to Kentucky. When I had it out the last time as I was coming up on plane and coming off plane I was getting sprayed with water under the drivers side dash. I thought it was maybe a hole in the speed or water pressure gauge hoses but it only did it coming off and on plane not while running.

So I think there may be something going on with my rub rail. I am not 100% sure but I think the base of the rub rail may not be up tight against the topcap. When I was looking at it this weekend I thought it looked like it had some sealant under there when it was originally put on. Does anyone know what I will need to seal it backup? Do you use some sort of black sealant under it or do I just need to check for loose screws?

Thanks for all your help as always.

I've used marine grade silicone on rub rails before an had good success with it. You could always have the rub rail replaced and check all the screws while you're doing it.

I would still bet it is your speedometer hose.

+1 Had the same problem with my 294. The water just builds up on the cup of the dash and ran down on me on take off.

Re: Water spraying in under dash (stratos284)

Ok I will check the hoses again. I have not had it out this year yet but when I did have it out the last time it only sprayed me when I was getting up or coming off plane. Once the boat sunk more in the water the water would hit up near the front of the console by the rub rail and then I would get wet.

Anyway I will check the hoses and also check the rub rail. Can't hurt to do both.
