2010 Stratos 201 XL Evo First Big Voyage

Well I took the new boat out on the river last night for the first time and opened it up. To say that I was disappointed would not be accurate. It topped out at 72.1 at 5600 rpm's. It had 3/4 tank of fuel, 2 people with a full tournament load. I guess that it isn't too bad. I was expecting more. Am I wrong? It has a 25 pitch Raker II on a 250 E-TEC HO. I don't know where the jack plate was set. I will check it tonight when I get home. Not real sure how to do it though.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks!

You are no where near right...You should be running upper 70's with just yourself in the boat, maybe more...You need to check the motor height, it sounds like the motor is buried, or there is a motor/linkage problem not giving full power...

Yeah Russ is right something aint right. Get the prop to pad height on the boat and do you remember what the Water PSI was? Most guys are running 27p props on that very same rig.

The water pressure was up around 26 psi. I figure that it is in the water too deep. I need to get another prop for sure if that is the case.

Have you talked to the dealer you bought it from? I would also contact them to see what they say. Also have them check to see if you are getting wot and check the tach. I would think the 25p Raker II would put you up towards the limiter.

I have a 28 Raker II that I have from my 225 E-TEC HO, but that may be too much from what I've been told. I was told that I need to be running a 27 Tempest or Tempest Plus. Is that right?

27 Tempest should do a very good job on your rig, i have had good luck with those on customers boats. Blue Steel has also had real good luck with the 27 Tempest and he has the same boat but in a 2009 model.

I checked the motor and it is 3.5" below the pad. I'm going to have to get a tempest. My buddy said the Roma were right on 6000 when we were running 72,

guys, he did say two people. i have same rig loaded "loaded" . alone high 70's add second person 74 -75 max. that is with any and all props/hydro jack plate. ended up with 24 fury ( fastest hole, same top end. ) 27 tempest same topend, no holeshot lower rpms. every other prop, just trading rpms for pitch. brp sent out 24 rakers with the update kits. raker had more slip for same speed (higher rpms). you are probably off on the plate height a little

Re: 2010 Stratos 201 XL Evo First Big Voyage (Blue Steel)

I will try bumping up the JP a 1/4" at a time to see what that does. I just want to get everything out of the motor. The hole shot is great! I will play with it and see what I can do with it. Thanks for everything and I will keep you guys updated.
