My new purchase - Javelin 379 W/ fast strike 150

Picking up my first "real" bass boat. Im very excited to get it out on the water. I've owned a hydrasport with a 70 and an old tri hull with a 50hp, so I have some boating experience. Is there anything I should check out immediately. It was my buddies boat and he needed to sell it, so I know it runs very well. Any advice from owners would be great! I think I got a steal too, at just $3800. I hope I dont find out otherwise!

Thanks everyone. Its very clean, the carpet doesnt even show much wear and I think its original. The only problem is the trolling motor. It powers up fine, but the mechanism that turns it must've broken. The foot pedal just feels loose and doesnt turn the motor. Anyone know if thats fixable, or should I throw it out and get a new one?

What will this thing do? 55-60mph? I am taking it out friday, just curious.

Don't know if it is the picture on what but, the prop looks kike it's got a chunk missing out of it! Might want to replace that quickly!

Nice eye, it sure is missing a chunk. Supposively its got replaceable fins? I've never heard of this but I havent confirmed since I havent taken a close look yet. It also comes with a 4blade stainless steel renegade prop. 22 pitch I believe, and that is brand new. Im not sure why the other one is on there

Thanks Guys... the 2x4 under the trolling motor was because the guy I bought it from was borrowing that one in the pic, and didnt want to drill new holes in the boat until he got one for himself. Its already off the boat and Im ready to mount another one. Its a 1997

The extra prop that it came with that is not pictured is a 1? 1/2 x 25. I cant read the second digit. Its a renegade by OMC

One more question. It has the automatic oil injection. Should I get rid of this, and mix on my own? I was reading another post and it looks like some boats have an alarm in case this fails? I would be fine with an alarm, but if theres no alarm, I may want to switch. Anyone know a good place to buy a motor manual?

Sweet boat, my first real bass boat was a 92 389t, and it handled great even in rough water with the bown down a little. Although javelin is long gone C&O marine in whtie bluff Tn have alot of parts,books still available. As far as the injection, I lost a motor b/c of a faulty oil injector, but I've learned to check the oil in the res. to make sure it is being used, just not too much.

Congrats nice looking boat and welcome aboard My old boat has oil injection and still works great Change the prop out to the renegadeand check prop shaft for fishing line or something else check the lower unit oil out fill her up with gas and check your trailer wheel bearings and grease them maybe and go fishing Well once you get the trolling motor fixed

I will be on the water in 24 hours! This might be a really stupid question, but my marine shop is a good little drive from my house. Does walmart have the oil for the oil resevoir?

I had a '93 Faststrike and ran the Penzoil at Walmart in it. Never any problems.

I have the same model javelin myself with an evinrude intruder pretty much exact same motor. I would leave the vro pump on the boat til it gives you problems. Took mine off and it wouldnt act right! Just went back with a new vro! Great deal you got on the boat!!!
