Just purchased 1994 Stratos 284 w/ Evinrude Intruder 150

Just wanted to introduce myself to the Stratos board. Just picked up a 1994 Stratos 284 dual console w/ Evinude Intruder 150 in very good condition ready to roll from a friend of a friend. Two years ago I sold my 95 Skeeter and this year decided I can't go without a boat any longer. I loved my skeeter but with the wife also wanting an RV (I also purchased one of those yesterday...expensive day) I had to find a good used boat at a good price. I picked this thing up for 3500 bucks!
It currently has a 23 pitch renegade 4 blade prop. Any information you guys can give me on this boat would be greatly appreciated. From what I've read this should be around a 60mph boat. Just can't wait to get on the water again.

If that boats in as good a shape as mine then you got it for a steal, I wouldnt take twice that for mine. post some pics

This boat was garage kept and I bought it from the origonal owner. It is super clean and everything is ready to roll. The only thing I'll be looking to upgrade eventually is the trolling motor (it has the origional evinrude 54lb thrust trolling motor) and electronics (currently has an old Lowrance GPS unit). I know this was a heck of a deal which is why I couldn't pass it up...I don't think the guy new exactly what the thing was worth or something.

That is a great combo! We sell a lot of them and virtually never get one back on trade in.

Going with a Merc 3 blade in 23 will make a great difference......

One big concern I have is the oiler. Is it common to take the oiler off and mix the gas? I know my 99 merc efi I had before I took it off just from the problems with the plastic oiler gear. Would you recommend taking it off the intruder or is it a reliable oiler? Thanks!

I have a 94 270 DC with 90 Evinrude, it has been a geat first bass boat and will be on the market I hope next year, I paid $4000 a couple years ago for it in super clean low hours condition. I need to replace the VRO since it is leaking gas and there is no kit to fix. This will cost around $350 to buy another. I have read the plunger diaphragm in the VRO are effected by time and Ethanol. I have been also adding premix 50:1. There are instruction on net that tell how to disconnect and plug the oil line to VRO and disconnect warning horn wires if you wanted to simply premix. I believe the oil line has a plug attached to it and just disconnecting the wires should do it, but I would double check if I were you, I am no mechanic.

I have a 1996 278 FS with a 150 Intruder and the oiler is working fine. Much easier than mixing and the alarms do work.
