    Chance to buy....

I have a chance to pick up an '07 201 Dual PRO XL with a 250 Yamaha, fully loaded for 25K.
This boat is in immaculate shape and has two years warranty left on motor.

I can either do that or restore my 201 Viper Cobra.....what should i do??

Hmmm....well, since I've had an '07 201 w/ 250 Yammie, my vote goes to it. The Viper you have is a good boat, but if you are about to try and restore it to new, you may find some of the parts will be hard to locate.

And you said it is the Dual Pro version or are you just meaning it is a dual console?

DUO Pro was the salt-water 201...correct?

Yes. It did not have any carpet, and had a compartment that could be used as a baitwell area behind the driver's seat.

It was the same hull/console/ratings/etc. as the regular 201.

This boat had an option to be a single or dual console. He has the left side in his garage, just have to install it. It's all carpeted and in immaculate shape.
I hear the Stratos has a chine walk issue at the high speeds this Yammy will push it, true, not true?

Yes it will chine walk a little but you are looking at a boat that will do upper 70's with 2 people in it, and depending upon the load it could do low 80's. Most boats will walk a little at these speeds.

That sounds like a really good deal as long as the boat/motor is in good shape. I would do it in a heart beat!

It chine walks if you don't drive it, just as any high performance boat does. I never notice it when I'm driving just because I've driven the Stratos so much that I correct it before it ever occurs. If you take your hands off the wheel it will begin to sway back and forth and continually get worse until you have to back out of it. A lot of the times, the chine gets bad because the driver is inexperienced and actually over corrects more than they need to and causes it to get worse.

I've taught several people how to drive their boats to their potentials within 10 minutes. It's not hard, and just takes an understanding of what the boat is trying to do from a physics standpoint, and know just how much input to give it to control it.

If you don't go with this boat, would you mind passing the contact info along to me?

I'm definately not a "green horn" in bass boat driving, i have had my 201 Viper for ten years and another one prior to that
My Cobra liked to walk a little with a 3 blade prop, my 4 blade Trophy gave it what it need to stay in the water better, along with a little tweak of the jackplate.
Being from Utah, we are limited to what brands of boats we see here and Stratos are few and far between. I have a friend with a 285 pro xl, great little boat no doubt. Or big ones here are Viper, Ranger, Skeeter & Champion.

At 25K this boat is a steal!! Two years warranty still left on the Yammy, engine has less than 50 hours running time on it
