Did all 1997 Stratos boats come with Ficht motors?

I guess I need to go check it out. My cousin owns a marina and he said just call him with the serial # and he will check it out while I am there.

Hope it's a good one. I've been dreaming of a Stratos for a long time.

On the other hand, waited this long, a little longer won't kill me.......or will it?

I am looking into purchasing a 97 Stratos with a 150 Johnson motor. I cannot find out if it is a Ficht motor and it will save me a 200 mile trip. I was told to stay away from the Ficht from a very reliable source.

Were they all made by Ficht in that year?

Not a Johnson and if I remember correctly 1998-99 was the start of the Ficht Evinrude

So the first year Johnson was made by Ficht is 98? I was not sure and it's hard to find when they actually started making them for Johnson. Thanks for the info.

I WOULD GO TO THE EVINRUDE BOARD WITH THE MODEL # AND SERIAL#'S THEY CAN TELL YOU. I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD BE A CARBED ENGINE. TROY W SS 22 EXTREME.

Ficht was a fuel injection system, not a manufacturer...If it had all of the updates, and is still running good, there is probably nothing wrong with running a Ficht motor...But they are right, no Johnsons with the ficht injection...That motor will be a carb motor...

+1 I agree, if it has had all the updates, and is still running with a good compression check, it is a good one. There was alot of trash talked about these motor in the past. These motors are not what bankrupted OMC, they had problems already within the company, but this matter also did not help them either. When it came down to the FITCH motor if it ran more than 100 hrs, you had a good one, the FITCH injection is the same tech. in the Evinrude E-tech, Bomb. just worked the problems out with this system and add other tech. to it the make up the E-tech. A cert. OMC dealer can tell if all updates have been motor on motor. Good luck

I have what is left of a blown up 98 JOHNSON Ficht laying in my garage, so yes there were Johnson Fichts out there

Sorry to dispute guys, but there were some Johnson Fichts. The first year, you could get a Johnson or Evinrude Ficht. I know a 98 model J150ILEC was a ficht as was a 175 model J175FTLEC. Not trying to but just letting you know there were a few Johnson Fichts.

Thanks for the help, update. You are not disputing me this is what the boards are for, i was not aware that Johnson had FITCH , glad to know someone has my back
