    2009 Stratos 201 Evolution

This is the worst piece of craftmanship I have ever seen in a boat. All compartments from the seats back stay wet, Live well has shifted about 2 inches to the side, boat constantly leaks and makes pumps go off, and now it stopped running because of some gas tank issues. Not bad for $52,000.000. Last Stratos boat owner !!!!!!

I guess the old adage you get what you pay for doesn't apply here.....good luck and btw..none of the new boats are built anything like the boats from 20 years ago, that you still see on the lake today

Are you talking about the livewells staying wet? If you're just talking about the carpet on top, unless you open them to let them dry out, they'll never be dry. I thought my divider was in a recessed slot between the livewells, if not it must be siliconed in. I'd think silicone would fix whatever problem you have...but you shouldn't have to be the one to fix it. That's what warranties are for. You should look at a Bayliner...you'll re-set your "worst piece of craftmanship" benchmark. I'm interested to see what your tank issues are. Please keep this thread updated when you get a response. I've found that Tennessee has a mud dobber problem. Found a nest in the cowling when I took delivery. Weird to see mud and grass in a brand new engine cowling. But 5 mins of time and a couple buckets of water into the lower cowling cleaned everything up.

I guess every boat builder has some issues, I've owned a slew of boats including The "TOTAL PERFORMANCE" custom Boats, and I've had 3 201 pro stratos boats. The stratos has been the most reliable boats out of all of them all. Who is your dealer?

Re: 2009 Stratos 201 Evolution (hent)

I have an '09 201 XLE and it is as good a boat I have been in, and better than most. This is my second Stratos, and won't be my last if I decided to get another boat. No leaks in any compartment, it has been washed 3 times at the car wash, twice at my house, and on the water during 1 rain storm, never a drop in any compartment. I even have the same roll of toilet paper in the back compartment, that I put in there 2 months ago, never been wet. No livewell issues here, except a design flaw that does not allow all the water to drain out (usually about a cup left).

Only issue I have is the boat is a little hard to prop out/set up, but that is a motor issue with these new 1.71 geared Etec's. The setup learning curve for these new Etec powered 201's is still in it's infancy, we are learning.

I love mine. Sounds like you need to have a long talk with your dealer. There has never been a brand of boat where every rig that hit the floor was perfect. If that was to happen it would be the #1 selling brand in a short period of time.

This is the main reason a good dealer should be a top consideration when buying a boat. Yea, $50K and problems like that are hard to swallow, but they are quality boats.

C&O is the place to GO!

Never heard any of those complaints on the Evo......had glitzy gauges, the typical leaky pumps....but never anything to that extent.

As always......we'd be heppy to fix any ills you have, no matter where it came from.

Re: 2009 Stratos 201 Evolution (Todd Morgan)

I've been around a lot of new Evo's. Haven't seen those issues on any of them.

There are five compartments from the seats back...2 livewells (should stay wet), the rear compartment (will stay wet if you put ice in the cooler or if your livewell has shifted causing it to overflow into the rear), and the two rear side storage compartments (these should stay dry--check the drain holes around the lip of the compartment as something may have clogged those causing the water to go into the compartments themselves).

If the issues are really that bad, take Todd up on his offer to repair it. You won't be disappointed.

Since he's averaging .01 posts per day, I'd say it will be a while before we get that answer. Seems like a drive-by poster. Makes a post and poof, gone.

I have an 09 201 EVO. Just finished putting some wax on it and cleaning up the storage lockers. Boat was in a hell of a downpour while we were eating at Wintzell's in G'ville Sunday. Then the cloud followed us most of the way home, constant hard rain. There was not a drop, not even damp, in the lockers. I call BS until he can prove me wrong.

Re: 2009 Stratos 201 Evolution (Todd Morgan)

Just to clear things up, this is my third Stratos and the first 2 is what made me buy the third.
I was able to fix the fuel issue myself. I was not going to take it back to Ascension Marine in Baton Rough were I bought it. They have had it about 5 times since Jan. and the last fix lasted about 45 minutes then the motor quit again. I took it to another Mercury Mechanic and he said the Fuel Pump was burnt up. He replaced it and said that the fuel bulb was collapsing. He said it was probably the ball check valve in the fitting on top of the Fuel Tank but he did not do Stratos Warranty work. Soooo, I pulled the seat section, and the Fuel Tank out and he was right. Please don't put those things in there Stratos, it is hell to get out and replace.

About my compartments, the one in the middle of the 2 seats, I had to buy my son a new Cell Phone already because of running through a rain storm. It constanly stays wet if it rains. The one behind the drivers seat has the drain hole with a rubber gromet, and half drains in the livewell, not cool if something is on the deck like oil, and the other half drains into my storage box. This is because the Livewell has been shifted about 2 inches to that side and then fiberglassed in. I looked up under the the rim in the Livewell and it looked like ther had been some cauking or silicone at one time but it had all been ripped out. I would imagine this is why both of those compartments get wet, from the overflow into them. So I spent 2 hours tryinf to silicone them and it still gets wet. I took it to Ascension Marine and they said they also siliconed around it but it still gets wet. I know it is something else that is leaking in the boat because Iif I am not fisshing in a Tournament, the livewells do not get water in them and the Bilge pumps still go off several time a day.
I wish I could bring this boat to you but I can't make it to Tennesee, maybe Stratos could send someone down.
I have only spent $98,000.00 on Stratos Boats in the last 4 years. Please help !!!!

I have never heard any complaints about any of the new evo's, but have no reason to doubt him. I would get in touch with Stratos if it were me.
