Has anyone tried a TXP prop on the new 250 powered EVO's

I know the 201 evo w/the 250's are just a year or so old, and the setups are still being tweaked.

Just wondering about a 26-27 TXP?

The best prop I have found so far on mine (250 etec HO) is a worked 27" Hydromotive w/8 PVS holes added. I currently run a 27 stock Fury which is about 1 mph faster, but not as efficient on hole shot.

I did not keep the hydro because it was a little thin bladed and I was concerned about its survival in our pine stump infested East Texas lakes.

Yep.....my son's 201 Evo runs a 27 TXP with a 250 ETEC HO. It runs good and has a solid holeshot.

I am assuming he has PVS holes added?

Yeah...everything we get from them is so equipped.

I just re greared an ETEC HO Evo with a 1.86 case........going to see what we get from that. Have already done it on several 225's with the new gear.....1.71 sux on the 200/225 HO

I think Todd ran a 27 Hydromotive 4 blade a few months ago on a 201 Evo with a 250 HO and hit 84 mph.

Yeah but the boat was very lightly loaded and it was like 50 degrees outside.

The HM does a great job on holeshot but we need a production prop that is less expensive to keep us in the hunt for sales.

I ran 85 mph also with a Mark Croxton Prototype...that prop should be in production at the end of the summer. If its sold at a reasonable price...it will be ticket for all. I currently run a Hydro, awesome prop but as Todd said, very expensive.

If I am not mistaken, that was the prop that was on my boat, (I bought the owners demo from C&O).

The Hydromotive has been the best prop to date I have run on the boat, has the best hole shot and top speed was as good as any.
The Hydro was worked real good by Mark, 8 PVS holes, B&B, tweaked, sharp leading edges, etc., about a $1000 prop, but I was concerned about it's survival in our pine stump filled lakes here in East Texas. I do lots of idling and fishing in pine timber. The Hydro seemed to be thin bladed, and I did not want to go through the hassle and expense to keep it in tip-top shape, and I promise you it would be nicked, dinged and banged in the lakes I fish. I swapped it to Blue Steel.

Some 3 blades will be just as fast, I ran a 27 Fury that was about 1 mile per hour faster with a load, and a 28 "original" raker that would fly on top but absolutely sucked out of the hole even light and with PVS holes. The 27 tempest does great on top end also. Nothing to date has out performed that Hydromotive in all around performance.
For this summer heat(115 heat index today), I am gonna try a 26 "original" raker if I can find one(have no desire for the Raker II's), and a 26 TXP, gonna put PVS holes in them.

What kind of speed can the 27 Hydro get with a light to med load on a 201 XL with 8 inch Hyd Jackplace and 250 HO?

I ran it to 79.8 had 40% fuel, 3 rods and maybe 20 lbs of tackle, I weigh 250+ easy. I was wanting to get 80 but I ran out of lake, was on a 1200 acre lake with only 400 acres of open water and the dam was coming up fast, did not get to tweak the JP and the tilt like I wanted. I feel certain I could have hit 80+, this was on a 80+ degree day.

I have ran it to 76.7 with a big load, 65% fuel, 16 rods, 15 plano's full, 1/2 live well and 2 extra props, on a 90 degree day. It was consistently around 76 with a good load in this summer heat, with the Hydro. The last tournament my partner and I fished was 2nd week of June, 94 degrees, we both weigh over 250, we were at 76.1 at one time on a long run with water in the live well. I traded the prop to Blue Steel the next week.

I would guess 80 mph would be common place, especially if the weather is cool! Of course remember this was with a "worked" Hydromotive, don't know what a stock would do.

Blue Steel, are your running a 201 / 250 HO?

Yes Mr. Steel runs a 201/250 HO, but from my understanding he is a little bitty fellow, only about 1/2 the size of the rest of us so his #'s are skewed, he has an unfair advantage.

To keep with the "Fair and Balanced" theme of our Nation right now, I propose Blue Steel add 2 bags of sacrete to his boat before he post anymore numbers.

It's not that he's small...he just doesn't have a lot of wind resistance!

    Promaxxum....they are both running 201 Evo's, not 201 XL's.

    Todd,

    Wind resistance sucks!

Well, in that case he should only have to carry 1 bag of sacrete, and a 6' mast & sail in his 2nd front deck pedestal hole.

Well, it looks like the Hydro is still the prop to go with. unless Mark Croxton can make his new prototype work, curious to know what it will do.
