The GT's last year of life was 1991 you could always install a fuel only VRO style pump if you are going to pre-mix.
where can i get these and can i do this my self ? Thanks for the info
You can order part number 5007423 it is a fuel only pump that replaces the VRO pump but you will have to premix at a 50:1 ratio. Bunch marine, or C&O #2 can get you one as well as Greene's. You can also order it online at http://www.shop2evinrude.com or other internet parts suppliers. Yes you can do it yourself. You will just need to cap off your oil line or remove the tank and use the oil that is in it and disconnect the low oil sensor from the motor.
I have a 88xp150 and my vro quit pumping fuel right so I bought a new one and fish a year. Well it started the same thing so I decided to take the old one apart.I found that the diapham was cracked so I took the new one apart and it also was cracked. I took them to the parts man and showed him and he look it up and found a diapham cost of $35 but he didnt charge me. Well I put it in and boat runs good again. Hope this helps, cost me about $300 to find problem. chinist
