    Trailer tire/paint question

I had a blowout the other day and the tire knocked off an area of paint on the fender about the size of a softball. What kind of paint should I use to fix it? Also, the boat/trailer/tires are only 14 months old (bought new). Are the tires under any kind of warranty? If not what kind of tire would you suggest getting? My current tires are Goodyear Marathons but I don't think they should be blowing out after 14 months. Boat is a 285XL with a single axle trailer. Thanks

I'd take the fender off and carry it to a local body shop. They won't charge you much. They can prep it and match the paint based on the existing trailer paint. Sounds like the damaged spot is just a tad too big for touch up.

I can't advise you on the tire but they would be under the mfg warranty if still in effect. Go here for goodyear warranty info: http://www.goodyear.com/rv/pdf...4.pdf

I would recommend Carlisle Radials. Another thing I would recommend is keeping your tires inflated to max psi which is 50psi. As far as touching up paint, what color is it? Buy some sandpaper like 220grit, 400 & 800, primer, 1-1/2" masking tape & matching spray paint. Sand area & feather egdes , clean with glass cleaner & tape surrounding areas off. When you tape, you need to use a method called back taping. This method will prevent a buildup of paint on a defined edge making the touched up area easy to spot. Google backing taping to see how its done. Good luck.
