I thought I would post the deck extension I did in my 2000 Hydrabass 1700. It did give me MUCH needed deck space and more storage. It's an amateur job but is functional and sturdy. The second picture also shows the footwell for the trolling motor.

Hi Mike.
Looks Factory.
Thanks. I did it fast trying to get the boat ready to fish out of. The face of the extension now has 2 speakers in it. I'm thinking about building a cooler/step on the back side of the extension. Might save that for a fall project.
Hi Mike.
Looks pro to me! Nice work!
I appreciate that.
Hi Mike.
Great job. You should start a sideline!!
That looks great!
Thanks guys. It was fun working on it. It's amazing how just that little extension helps with storage but while fishing too. I have plans for a cooler step that I might take on this fall.
Hi Mike.
Really nice work and upgrade! I can def see that helping a bunch wit storage and fishability!

Considering this is what I started with I think it turned out OK.

Hi Mike.
Im just curious did you glass it in and what type of wood did you use in thinking about making this a winter project
I did not glass it in. I wanted to be able to remove it if need be. I did use all treated lumber and stainless screws. I did it in a big hurry because I was fishing as a no boater in my club and was trying to get it fishable as fast as possible. The deck lid and face are 3/4 treated plywood and the supports are treated 2X2's. It is not watertight and I knew it wouldn't be going in. I have LED lights inside as well. It really transformed that boat. The fishability and storage capacity was essentially doubled that of the stock deck.
Hi Mike.
How did you attach the support pieces to the fiberglass I've got a stratos that dam near has the same layout

I was able to come in from inside the rod box and the compartment in front of the console so I drilled small holes through the fiberglass and attached treated 2X2's for the perimeter frame with large deck screws and washers. At the front of the new compartment I was able to come in on both sides of the front livewell to attach the piano hinges for the new lid with stainless bolts and nuts. Really pretty simple on my old boat.
I wish I could make it water tight but that is WAY more involved than I want to contend with.
If I completely removed everything I installed all I would have are some small, #10 size holes left.
Hi Mike.
That looks great!!

Hi Mike.
looks like the factory did it! Nice
Thanks stratosjoe. Appreciate that.
Hi Mike.
Have to ask. To me in the "before" pic the starboard side box lid looks lower than the front deck. I the "after" pic it looks almost level with the front deck? Did you raise it or is it just picture angle?
