    Speed results on 2008 200XL, 225HO

Finally had a good day to take the new rig out yesterday. Low winds and nice 65 degree day. Water temp. is still at 39-41.. (not great for fishing).

Anyway had a pretty light load and 1/2 tank of gas. Was very, very happy with the ride, holeshot and specially the mid-range power of the HO motor.
Was able to get it up to 76.9 gps on two seperate occasions, around 5700rpms... This is the first time out so maybe I can get a little more out of it by raising the motor a little more.

27P Stock Tempest, 6" jackplate. It's very difficult to accurately measure the propshaft to pad as my trailer roller prevents me from fitting a straight edge in there. Measuring the height above the transom isn't easy either because of the hydrualic stearing but it's around 4.25".

Any thoughts? Need to go up?

    KCLOST,

I measure my pad to motor this way. First, make sure your trailer is sitting level to the ground. I first measure the height of the trailer at the front of the boat. Then at the back of the boat. If they are not the same, I level it by cranking the trailer jack (first make sure you have a chok stop on your tires to prevent from rolling). Once the trailer is level, then measure the bottom of the pad to the ground. Now, trim your motor till it's straight up and down and measure the nose of nose cone or prop shaft from the ground. Take the difference and you've got your motor to pad distance! :)

Get your propshaft to pad up to 2.5"-3". This is where I run mine most of the time. I have a hydraulic plate so I can move it easily. I've ran a 28 Raker II & a 27 Tempest Plus both are about the same on top end but the tempest is a lot better out of the hole. 76.9 is pretty darn good though, I've only ran around 76gps on mine.

I'm running 2 large & 1 medium but just started playing with the tempest so I might be able to get it better with a different plug combo. She's pretty good with the 2 Large & 1 Medium though.

You're able to do that well with the 28 Raker II??? I had been running a 27 Raker II on my 201Pro with the 225HO ... hmmm ... I've got to do a bit more experimenting.

Also, how much stuff you have in the boat at the time of these runs?? I practically have a full tackle shop in my boat ... plus four heavy 29 series batteries too!

yes I can run 76gps with the 28 raker II or the 27 tempest. i would consider my load medium. Your running a 201 & it's a totally different animal than my 200.

Took the measurement, and the propshaft was 3-1/4" below the pad. So I raised it to 2-3/4". Will try that next....

Reached 77.6 mph GPS today with the propshaft at 2.75" below pad. Will raise it 1/4" and try again... 27P Stock Tempest....

    Happy...

Layton, make sure you keep an eye on your water pressure.

You should loose speed before you loose the water pressure.
