Has anyone ever heard of anyone running a bigger motor than a 75? Seems like you could at least run a 90.

If you already have a 176 then i would think a 90 would run that boat nice if you just want a few MPH more....but if you havent bought yet and are already looking to upgrade motors I would look into buying a 186xt and putting on a 90hp
The 176XT is targeted at the Bass Tracker 175 aluminum boat. Same price, same engine hp ratings, etc. They weren't designed to run with larger engines. In fact, these boats run great with 75's. They have skiff-type hulls which run well with the smaller hp engines. The 176XT and 186XT are not deep "V" bass boats like the 285. Stratos has a "v" bass boat hull 17ft boat callled the 275 that's rated for a 125.
Competitors have entered this market segment by taking existing 17ft hulls, lowering the hp they stick on the back of their "V" hulls (to meet a price point) and you have a small boat that plows water.
