Purchased 2005 201 pro xl. I filled the fuel tank on the first trip fishing cost about $80. By the third trip fuel gauge was reading empty. I refilled the tank with $20. Is this common? Do I have a problem with the gauge or float?
Thanks.

It's common. My 285 reads about 1/4 or a little more lower than what is actually in the tank. My previous boat would read 1/2 tank less than what you actually had. You just have to get a feel for what your actually using after you fill it up a few times.
When I bought my 201ProXL, the boat fuel gauge showed empty. I put in 10 gal of gas and looked again, it was still empty!!Put in another 10gals and I had half a tank according to the gauge ... so I figured that when it reaches empty, I have about a 1/4 tank!
