If you are looking at the newer 285's (with the modular consoles) the port rod box is the same size on the single and dual consoles. The dual console just bolts in.

Jason,
Thanks....I guess my question should have been conveyed a little better. Does the console make it tough to manuever rod into box? On my 275 the starboard rodbox is tough to get into due to the console.
thanks,
LC
I had a dual console 285 ('04 model) and it does take up significant room, but not like your 275. It's by no means as easy as putting them in a 201 dual console, but it's not that bad on the 285. The openings are wide which helps.

Mine is a DC and it is not bad when you are in the boat. It becomes a little more of a problem when the boat is on the trailer and you are standing on the ground because there is not much room to sneak them through the space between the lid and the console, and the lid is too high for me to reach over.
I tried to take my console out but I can't reach the last screw in the gunwale to get it out.

ever find out what you have to do to get to that last bolt?
was yours installed by the factory or the dealer?
