    Mystery Problem 115 E-Tec

Hey guys I need some help...I hope this isn't too long winded. But I want to try and give as much info as I could.

    Model # E115DPXSUC
    Ser# 05189182

History - We live in the Country of Panama. There are NO other Evinrude Shops/Mechanics that can work on this engine in the Country. This motor was installed new on my boat. In service start date Sept 07. Current hours 346. The 300 Hr. Service just completed last week. I run Accel Marine TCW-3 Oil. The Evindue Oil here is $25 a gallon.

Problem - The problems started on delivery. We could't even drive the boat away from the dealers lot the day of delivery because it kept stalling. The mech had to install a new software load to correct it? The motor then ran fairly well for apporiatmetly 30-40 hrs and then the current problem started. Currently - The motor is sometimes hard to start - in the sense it sounds as though it's drawing hard down of the Batteries (Dual). (Note: I have swithed from Batt 1 to Batt 2 and then to Both - No Change! I then took one of the Batteries out and hocked it up in my other boat and started my 1998 250 Rude with plenty of juice to spare.) The motor will then stop 2-3 times in a matter of 4-5 minutes as I am letting it warm up before I pull away from the dock. As I advance the throttle from Idle (Neutral) forward, the motor acts as though its not getting enough gas. A definite miss is evident and bogging down as I slowly push the throttle forward and it slowly catches (lack of a better term). The engine then starts to smooth out around 3500 - 4000 and seems to run fairly well 4800 and up. There is only a slight miss/popping sound comming from the motor at 4500 but is very noticable at 2500 - 3500 RPM.
Running the boat at exstended periods (15min +) at higher RPMs 4500+ does smooth it out a bit. But you can then bring it back down to around 2500 - 3000 and the miss is still there..just not as bad. However, let it sit over night after a runout and I'm back to square one. Note: There is a slight indicated RPM flux at 5000+ RPMs.

OK...here's the rest of the problem. The mech hooks up the computor and No Faults are found. There is a blackish powder on the plugs. All of the Filters were changed on the 300hr service. I also have a in-line water separater that has been changed by me twice.

The mech is at a loss of what to do next. The owner of the shop went cross wires with Evinrude so the mech can't get any Factory Tech support. I have told the owner unless he can fix it I want a replacement motor....Trust me, that's easier said then done out here in the Jungles Islands of Panama. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

Have had similar stalling problems with my 115 07'. After about a dozen visits to about 4 different shops I finally got them to reprogram the injectors and it seems that the problem is better. Now it only stalls a few times here and there. Overall have had many issues with service, knowledge etc.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I will check the Injector settings with the software. I'll try a temp adjustment to see if the Idle improves also.

Getting Service on a E-Tec.....it's just a Big Joke! We all got Hosed when we bought the E-Tec...Oh well..Thanks again!

    Cheers,

Don't know about the 115 but my 60 has done the same thing as far as the skipping under load around 35-4500 and at idle. every time they have to replace injectors to fix
