    Jack Plate/Prop question

I'm running a 285 pro XL with a 150 Verado, 23P Trophy Plus prop. The previous owner told me it also ran well with a 24P Trophy Plus. It will hit the rev limiter at about 58mph with a reasonable amount of gravel rash on the prop. I've just fitted an 8" set back Bob's hydraulic jack plate and haven't run it yet. Should I try a 25P prop straight up?

    Re: Jack Plate/Prop question (aussiebasser)

what is the rev limiter set at? 58 mph seems a little low for the boat but then a verado is not really made for bass boats. If hitting the limiter get the prop cleaned up and raise the plate some and see if it helps. If still go to a 24-25 tempest, a 3 blade usually will give a little more speed due to less blade area in the water. good luck on the verado that is one heavy little motor. here in the states they basically have given up putting them on bass boats and now they are on off shore and flats and such ( salt water) boats
