My '94 Javelin timer was located behind the bow panel. It will either be there or behind the console switch panel. The timer looks like a red shotgun shell. Simple replacement - just unplug the old, plug in the new.

My 389T is also under the bow panel but it is actually a circuit board. It went out and I could not find one so I carried it to a local electronics store and they repaired it for a minimal fee. I can't remember exactly how much, but I thought it was very cheap.
My 94 284 was exactly as Javelin389 describes them.
On both my '97's it was behind the bow panel , kinda hangin down on the keel line . I've since tied them up so they wouldn't bounce around .
I have a 98 and thought my timer was bad, however after buying one I cleaned all my terminal connections and fixed the problem.
