    2008 Stratos 486 FS w/ Evinrude E-Tec 150 HO

    Hey all
    I just purchase a 2008 486 Fs w/ evinrude e-tec 150 ho and having prolbems.
I have a ss 22" pitch prop and the rpms will only get up to 4500. Also with 4 peaple in the boat i can't get out of the hole unless i move people up to the front. the spped i'm getting is around 52-54 mph. I have tryed a 18" pitch and it help the out of the hole but i still only do 5000 rpms and drop down to 45 mph. Is this normal or can i get it any better. Help me please.

Email Todd @ C&O Marine. He can give you info on what prop is the best and what performance numbers to expect. If it ends up that you might have a motor issue, post your numbers on the Johnson Evinrude pages. Those guys will decipher your problem and get you where you want to be.

I have the exact same boat on order and would appreciate knowing what the fix is to your problem when you get it worked out

    Thanks,
    Tim.

The first thing I would check would be to make sure that the linkage (and/or hot foot if equipped) is adjusted to let the motor go to full throttle.

This happens more often that you'd think.

The prop to have is a Mercury Vengeance in 19 pitch.......this really works well on the 486's. It's quick and has an unbeatable holeshot for a fixed pitch prop.

When everything is functioning correctly, the 486/150 Combo is good for low 50's.

There is the potential that the engine is not getting wide open throttle.....I'd have my dealer check it over with the laptop.

Phil, Congrats on the new ride! I can attest from FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE that 99% of the time when Todd suggest running a certain prop on a boat he is right. On a Stratos that goes to 99.9% with the .1% being prop variances out of the box.

I'd do as suggested, take the boat back to the dealer, swap out props, have all those nasty little bugs worked out and enjoy!

04 486 SF w/04 Merc 150 XR6, running Turbo 4 blade 2+2TH 22 pitch. Speedo will show 60 with two people. This setup is great all-around for my boat / motor. If pulling skiers I will install my 19 pitch three blade for a slightly better hole shot.
