    Prop blowout on holeshot

My boat is an 06 285 with a 150 HO Etec with a 6" jack plate. The prop is a 23 raker. I am having problems dialing in the holeshot on my boat. This is my first bass rig so I have no idea how to correct the problem. Every time I take off and the nose of the boat is coming down the prop blows out and the rpms go from 3000 to 4000. I have to back off the throttle to get the boat to hook back up. What am I doing wrong?

The boat will also do the same thing if it is on plane and I drop the rpms down to 3000. I discovered this on Saturday during some rough water. Please help. Again this is my first boat and I have no idea how to correct this.

Re: Prop blowout on holeshot (EDUBYA)

That is the problem I have with a raker. If you switched to a 4 blade like a trophy or a gade, you won't have that problem any more.

An added plus of a 4 blade is much better boat control and stability if its rough on the lake. The difference is pretty dramatic.

you may as said go to a 4 blade but I had more troubles with the ren on my boat as it had too much tail lift. I am using a tempest with adjustable holes on my boat and love it, good speed and a holeshot that dowsnt blow out. I am using the second smallest holes on mine, on my 200 johnson I used the smallest holes and had no blow out and Fred ( championman ) said the hole shot for my boat was great when he test drove it.

try changing the plugs on the prop. if that doesn't help then drop the j/p a little bit, worked for me.

    Re: (EDUBYA)

Raker doesn't have the pvs plugs. Mark on the props forum can add this feature to it if you like.

I was wrong. The prop is a Tempest not a Raker.
