Great job! You probably put as much time into posting all of this for us as you did actually rebuilding the engine.

SkeeterStew, you are the Man. I've enjoyed this all the way through. If you can accomplish this, you can fix ANYTHING. Those pictures of your Daughter helping are priceless. To even attempt this alone with no help (except from your Daughter) proves to me you deserve the Shadetree Mechanic of the century award. Wow, just Wow. Hopefully that Yamaha will run forever. Thanks for all this. BEST thread ever on BBC. Congratulations.

SkeeterStew - What did you end up doing with the upper motor mounts, Post #23, last picture? Great work and congrats on tackling this project.

I just finished reading this from the beginning today. My hat is off to you. Great job, attention to detail and an amazing effort documenting the whole thing. Thank you! The picture of your helper with the LMB has to be the ultimate reward. Again, congratulations. I hope you can enjoy it for thousands of hours.

Read this thread from beginning to end today. Very well done, my hat is off to you and all your helpers! FWIW, I add an appropriate amount of Seafoam fuel treatment every time I add fuel to feed my Mercury Optimax. This helps keep the fuel/fuel system conditioned and cleaned and provides an added bonus of keeping it winter storage ready. Never a worry about end of season fuel treatment issues.

Awesome job, thread, documentation and pics. Back in my racing days, I could build and tear down a hemi in my sleep, but to tear into a modern outboard is intimidating to me. Congratulations! Great job and that last picture of your helper is the icing on the cake. Thank you to your technical advisers and anonymous donor.
