1996 295 pro XL ????????????????????

I can purchase a 1996 Stratos 295 pro XL. on a single axle trailer. it has a motor I want , so I wanting to know abou the value of the hull and trailer. it is in mint condtion, couple of very minor nicks , boats is in as good of shape as most 1 year old boats. all electoincs and t/m. it is a burnt orange and gold metal flake and silver, looks red sometimes and purple sometimes, very sharpe boat. NADA does not have a 295 listed for 1996, but has one in 1997. anybody know the reason for this? what would the hull be ????? and how hard is it to sell a hull and trailer? it is riged for mercury. thanks

if you look at your (or whomever's boat) serial number you need to take the last 3 numbers which are the month and year made. probably for tax purposes and such or for whatever reason the dealer or owner registered it as a 1996 or it could have been a mix up at the state level on the title. it happens all the time. take a rubbing of the serial number if it is that important to ya when you buy it and have it changed to a 1997. Your boat may have been made in Late Late 1996 for the model year 1997 or it could have been a demo boat and the dealer wanted to pay less on taxes on it. either way it does not lower the value as you go by what model it is and if not a 1996 the you go up to what model year they have on nada. which is 1997.

thanks, the last 2 numbers are 96. is ther any way to call stratos now and can they go back and check a ser. number?

295's have been around a long time. Don't know what NADA's issue is with 96. I'm on the NADA advisory staff and will address it with them.

What would you like to know that you need the serial number to confirm?

If I rememeber correctly (I could be wrong), the 295 was a late introduction for the 1996 model. This 295 is a different hull than the 295 that was available for a few years in the early 1990's (91 and 92, I think).

Kennth, need you get my IM? I found out the boat was one of 4 built in 1996. this is the only color this boat was made in. Will ge tsome pics as soon as the sun comes out. Phillip
