    Trailer wiring help

Guys, I have a 2004 201 pro xl with a dual axle. My wiring plug fell out and drug and ruined it. It has 5 pins but 8 wires and I am having trouble finding one. Can anyone point me in the correct direction to get a replacement? Thanks

This may be what you need. If not, give C&O a call. 1-888-868-0361

I had the same problem with mine...the plug came out and drug for about 300 miles on the way home from Santee Cooper before I realized it. What you have to do is use a normal 5 wire plug, and put some wires together. Green goes to Green, Yellow to Yellow, Brown/Yellow and Brown/Green go to Brown on new plug, Whites all hook together, and Blues all hook together.

    Eric,

You can use a standard 5 wire, and just tie each of the two wires from your trailer together into one to create the 5 total wires. That's what they are basically doing in the plug itself.

Does anybody know why they did it like that in the first place. I assume it was to make sure they were not overloading the wires or to make sure that at least one side was working. I have it rigged now, but I wanted to go back to OEM standards in case they did it for a reason. Oh yea, Jason, have you posted any pics of that new ride? I would love to see it

    Re: Trailer wiring help (eric201pxl)

Tapping the wires together via a butt connector or some other connection creates another point for corrosion and failure. Less connections = less chance of wiring failure in the marine environment.

It's not hard at all. I did mine in about a half hour, while talking on the cell phone....on a 1-10 scale, I'd rate it as a 2 job...

And that's saying something when you're in the boat.
