Next question after updating my gen 2 10 and my new platinum card wich took 14 hrs to update I am beyond disappointed in it. I ordered a platinum card just based on the 3d option and sonar charts. I have all of it working except the 3d... photo overlay works but it's literally just a photo with no geographical detail or cartography if that makes sense . It is also only showing shading on shallow humps and drops with no help from the overlay... am Imissing something here ? The view goes to 3d but the picture is still generic flat like a normal set premium map ...

To use 3D, you have to use the Bird's Eye view and adjust the exaggeration to get the contour look.

Yes Photos are just that. Helpful when offshore entering a harbor.

When you do an update, that just does Nautical Charts, and also Sonar Charts and Community Edits if you choose those. The Platinum features are permanent.

Definitely when loaded all the NauticalChart, SonarChart and Community Edits all at the same time on a 16gb Platinum card, it's going to be a hefty download. Especially if you're internet is a bit spotty, not saying it is but the only time I've experienced download times anywhere close to those it was when I was on a public wifi or spotty signal in more remote areas.

Wayne hit everything on the head per usual. Thanks Wayne.

ok I got that figured out now on to sonar logs to upload to navionics, do I have to go into settings to log sonar or does it automatically save the data and information if it is creating a trail to begin with? im being told multiple things here

Those that do it can explain it better, but you cannot just record sonar logs with a Lowrance to participate in the Navionics Sonar Charts program. Lowrance won't allow the processing of their data.
Some have stated you can get around that by uploading saved Trails and get those processed by Sonar Charts.

The only other way is via Lowrance Wifi to the Navionics Mobile App and the Mobile App sends the data to Navionics when your device gets a Wifi connection to the internet.

If I buy a Hot Maps platinum card that came out of a Hummingbird unit, can I use the same card in a Lowrance HDS unit?

Yes, if the card size will fit your Lowrance. A version 6 card will be microSD with a SD adapter. OHIO would be E6.

If your HDS has a SD size reader, any issue will work. E, E2, E3, E4, E5, or E6.

Wayne is always spot on. One thing though, if you originally purchased your Navionics card with a HB bundle, the card may be HB exclusive. As a general rule, Navionics cards work in almost all units no matter what but in some instances bundled packages may be exclusive to that chart plotter.

My friend is having problems getting any map data to show on his HDS-10 gen 2 with a new platinum east card. He's also running the latest update. He lives far away from me so I've been trying to help him what to do on the phone but it's not helping. Is there a setting were missing somewhere that will show the lakes? He did select Navionics when he inserted the card too.

    Thanks,
    Charlie

TRUE Story Josh - I confirmed this W/ HB some time ago.

I think a buddy of mine said the same is true W/ LOW units to other brands.

Yep he tried it both ways. I think this is for when you doing the freshest data update on the card though.

I am currently at lake fork and I can not get the map card to show the creeks nor does it show the depth. Just shows contour lines. I can just drive up a creek and look at bump with out driving over them to see what the depth it. May be a bump may be a deep spot. I have hds gen 2 I think this is a hot map. I have a platnium but it shows nothing for fork. No clue. I've down loaded it on it 3 times

I am having trouble with the sonar live on my iPad. I connect to my unit but get "sounder not connected". I have case #00267561 with Navionics but seem to not be able to help. At least I've heard nothing from them in a week now. My last email response from Technical Support after I provided them with screen shots they requested was "I have received email. I'll investigate on it and I'll be back to you soon."

    Anyone else having this issue?

I sent an e-mail to somebody; you should have an update soon.
    Are you using a Gen-3?
Is it a intermittent problem or you just can't connect (link) you're IPad to the unit?
I use my IPad and my Gen-3 all the time w/o any problem

Thank you, Wallyandre. Yes, I have a Gen3. Was never able to get it to work. It wouldn't be a big deal but I paid the $50 for the service and want to use it.

You can connect you're IPad with the Gen3? If so it's the app that doesn't link with the Gen3? I'm not sure I really understand. Can you explain step by step what you're doing?

By the way you're case is under review

Yes can connect my iPad with the Ge3. No, the app doesn't link. I get "sonar not connected".

    Step by step on iPad
    Settings>>WiFi>>Select Gen3xxxxx(name of plotter)
    Connected to Plotter
    Open Navionics app
Look to verify SonarChart Live is on, but it's not connected
