    Switch Question for 278 Stratos

Hey guys I have a '96 Stratos 278 and somebody has the answer for me......I hope.

On the livewell switches: I have a front and rear livewell switch on the console that are "on" or "off". Then I have a front and rear switch on the front deck for "manual" or "auto". Now also on the front deck I have the "timer" that says like 2, 4, or 6 (something like that).

I know that you have to have the front set to manual and then turn the console switch on to get these to work. I assume it is the same for the "auto" position. Do I just click over to "auto" then set the selected delay on the "timer" and then turn the switch on at the console?
And if that's correct then were do I get a replacement timer switch that will work like this one? Did that timer switch operate both livewells or just the rear. Not sure it has ever worked since I have owned the boat and really wished I had the wiring diagrams for this boat!!!

Yes, you have the way that it works figured out. The 2, 4, and 6 are the different delays you can set in 'auto' mode. This should all be for the rear. Are you sure you have a livewell up front, or is it the cooler you're looking at?

As for a timer, take a look at this and see if it is what you are wanting.

If it is, here is the link. It is in the lower right-hand corner of the page.

Yes I have a front and rear livewell.
That's not the same timer that is in there right now. Will that one work for 2 livewell pumps at the same time?

I looked at the wiring last night and the timer that is in there has the switch that sets the delay and then runs over to a red cylinder that looks like it might be a capacitor or something. Looks like it went out at some point and the original owner may have changed the wiring or something. I will really have to pull it all apart to figure out what is left. The livewells only work on "manual" right now and there are all kinds of dang jumper wires running all over the place, looks like somebody made something over complicated. I may just look to put an aftermarket timer in because I am mainly concerned about the rear livewell but I will on occasion use the front livewell if I am carrying extra fish.

I would just give them a call and see if they can get you hooked up. Chances are they will have what you need, it just may take a few minutes of describing it to narrow it down.
