WOOHOO!!!! I Love my 201!!!! And I beat AB to 80!!!!

Fished a Thursday night tourney yesterday. There was 30 or so boats in it. Out of the ones that went my direction, I was lined up directly beside an '07 Triton BassMaster Classic boat w/ 250 ProXS (#7 still on the windshield), a Z-19 w/ 225 H.O. E-TEC and several 18 and 19'rs with 150's and 200's. When we took off, the Triton and I got on plain almost identically. He started about a boat ahead of where I did. Within 100 yds we were side by side and then I started slowly easing ahead. We were loaded basically identically, both by ourselves, with our gear and 1/2 tank of gas.

The water was a little choppy with the wind, but I was running 78 and I'd say he was within 1 mph of me. Right before dark, I figured I wouldn't get better conditions than what I had. There was a slight ripple on the water, and cool dry air, so I buckled everything down and made a 'fun' run. 80.3 turning right at 6,000 rpms.

Have I mentioned I love this boat?

Don't ask how the fishing was......

Woo-hoo! Send your pad to prop shaft measurements. Folks, see how easy it is to drive a 201 at 80. . . Jason even had time to pull out his camera and snap a shot!!

AB, have touched 81 with a little 225 on a similar Triton so I bet you will see 80+ with the right prop.

Said this all along wouldnt trade a 201 for a 200. Been in both and I want the extra room. Now that some have a 201 instead of a 200 what do you think.

I can't go back to a 200. The 200 is a great boat, but the extra length on the deck and rod lockers makes a big difference. The ride is good on the 201. The overall form factor isn't much bigger than the 200 in the garage. The 250 HPDI is nice too!

I really don't feel much difference between my 200 and 201 when it's sitting still or when I'm running in pretty rough water. The biggest difference I can tell is when I'm clicking along at 78-79. The 201 will almost give you a false sense of comfort. It is extremely easy to drive at those speeds. My 200 seemed to keep you more involved with the driving experience.

I won't say that I wouldn't have another 200, but I am extremely happy with the 201. I like the little bit shorter length (only 7 inches) and the lower top cap on the front deck of the 200 when I'm flipping. I like the 201 on all other counts.

    AB,

My 2004 201 / DI 225HO ran 80.6 in Dec. of 2003. This was with no load and 1/4 tank of gas. It took the light load and a really good 28 Raker (I have not had one that good again) to get there.

I can give you everything except my motor height. I still haven't gotten an accurate measurement (or moved it) since I picked it up.

I'm running a 27T1 to 5,900-6,000 rpms. I have 24 lbs of water pressure at wot.

    Load consists of:

    10 rods in locker
    15 Large Planos
    4 Small Planos
    2 Spinnerbait boxes
40 Packs or so of plastic
Rain Suit, Life Jackets, Paddle, FishHedz etc. in the driver's rod locker
Rear storage has odds and ends, paperwork, etc.
Three batteries in the rear hatch
Generally running 1/2 tank of gas or a little more.

    I weigh in around 185-190.

I'll take you for a ride in it at the Southern Rally.

At least you won't have to worry about losing much hair.
